Will Wisconsin Fans Show Favre Fantasy Love?

Before announcing his Brett-tirement again three weeks ago, Favre had a RapidDraft ADP of 226.8

Kenosha, Wis., August 19, 2009 – Will fantasy footballers from Wisconsin unite and shun Favre as a fantasy QB option in 2009? Or will they hold onto their little piece of Brett and secretly show their loyalty by nabbing him in the 10th to 12th round in upcoming drafts?

When Favre signed with Minnesota Vikings, it gave fantasy football fans a choice once again – to Favre or not to Favre. RapidDraft Fantasy Football competitors like Favre. RapidDraft is the first single user draft style game in the industry and was developed by Kenosha-based World Fantasy Games (WFG). The innovative fantasy football game offers consumers the opportunity to draft and play against 11 real-life fantasy football experts represented online by life-like avatars.

“If you drafted a month ago, you may have considered Favre as a late round pick. Three weeks ago, after he Brett-tired once again, he was off the board. Now he’s back. Give me a break. As a Packers fan, it’s a situation that sickens me. He’s not worth my time any longer. As a fantasy game operator, I know that fans and RapidDraft competitors can’t ignore his potential,” said WFG Chief Executive Officer Jeff Thomas. “I think the hundreds of thousands of fantasy footballers in Wisconsin will refuse to draft him. But we’ll see. It will be an interesting three weeks of drafts between now and the beginning of the season. He’ll probably move up to a RapidDraft ADP of 140 or 150, or about a 12th or 13th round pick.”

Favre will have RapidDraft’s top pick in his backfield. Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson has a RapidDraft ADP of 1.3, with Atlanta’s Michael Turner (3.2), Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew (3.2), and Chicago’s Matt Forte (4.2) being drafted ahead of him on occasion. New England’s Tom Brady (RapidDraft ADP – 23) and New Orleans’ Drew Brees (RapidDraft ADP – 32.2) are the top quarterbacks off the board.

Thomas says all Wisconsin fans should draft for free and then join the group “Cheeseheads Unite Against Favre” on the RapidDraft web site. To draft and play free, go to www.rapiddraft.com and use promo code = go4it when you get to the payment page. Live scoring is free of charge for everyone and there are no hidden fees or premium upgrades charged.

RapidDraft targets the core fantasy demographic, the 18 to 49 year old male, with what research has shown is the most popular part of fantasy sports, the draft. Fantasy sports consumers are extremely engaged, spending five to six hours per week following their fantasy football teams. Recent research also finds the fantasy sports consumer is voracious, consuming products like beer, wireless, and electronics at a pace that eclipses even the average sports fan.

What will the next three weeks hold for Brett Favre? Whether Wisconsinites like it or not, he’ll be very popular in fantasyland.
